Eco-friendly accommodation Rancho San Minguel

New in its kind on Bonaire will be the ECO-friendly bush house. A place to stay 15 minutes from town but it seems to be in another world. Still under construction but should be ready to use around December 2009. It is a restored horse stable, mostly made out of wood and local stones, in an agricultural/natural surrounding.

If you are looking for a place AWAY FROM THE CROWDS, in a NATURAL setting, PEACEFUL, and a place where you finally have time to READ a proper book but still stay close to town; THEN THIS IS IT !!!

For honeymooners this is such a great place to stay. Great walks can me made in the direct vicinity and to the wild east coast. Lots of birds and interesting and other wild life can be seen from here.

And of course don’t forget to look up to see an amazing sky full of stars. Your host Hans (who is also building the bush house) is a naturalist and a guide on Bonaire. He can guide you into the mangroves, caves, National Park and the rest of the island. Together with his girlfriend Jenny they like to welcome you in this great place. They live about 60 meter away from you in a small house tucked away between the trees with their 2 dogs and cat.

What you should know

When I start building this place I had a place in mind for people who have a love for nature and who do not like to stay in a normal hotel room. Don’t expect luxury here (there is no T.V., air conditioning or microwave). Electricity is limited and powered by solar panels. Luxury is found in your privacy, your view (day and night), a peaceful surrounding and a lot of space around you. It is 1 building with two 2–person bedrooms, and a big porch with a great view on the first floor, and below you will find the kitchen (with a gas refrigerator) and a living room attached to it, a toilet, 1 shower outside and 1 shower inside.

All the walls are fnished and painted

TIP:

Most places on Bonaire have all year round plenty mosquitoes… we only have a few… sometimes!!!

We will update this page monthly so you can keep a track on the proceedings. Prevous photos:
